A Note from Bishop Barber

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We are blessed to be one family of God, a multicultural community of believers whose mission is "to know Christ better and make Him better known." We are one family in faith, sharing in the responsibility of building up the Church of God in the East Bay and ensuring the ongoing vitality of our diocesan Church for future generations.

As we prepare for the future, we have an opportunity to renew our commitment to God and one another. I invite you to be a part of the Reclaiming Christ's Mission Together campaign; our historic endeavor to strengthen our local parish communities and our diocesan Church. This $65 million campaign will enhance our ability to educate and form our children and young adults, provide increased pastoral and spiritual care, expand services for the “least of our brothers and sisters,” provide for our retired clergy, strengthen our parishes and improve the overall financial condition of our Church of the East Bay.

As I hold you in my prayers, I also ask you to please pray for me and for the success of our diocesan capital campaign.

Yours Sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend Michael C. Barber, S.J.
Bishop of Oakland
